Asia Evangelical Alliance: Emerging Mission Forces in Asia
Asia is home to 60% of the world’s population. But only 8.2% of Asians claim to be Christians. The growth of Christianity in Asia has been somewhat lower than initially projected at the early years of the 21st century.
In the last 30 years, Asia has seen a significant increase in cross-cultural and international mission endeavors. Korea has emerged as the second-largest missionary sending nation, with more than 30,000 missionaries serving in more than 170 countries. Global mission engagements have expanded in other Asian countries as well, including the Philippines, China, and India. The impacts of these cross-cultural mission movements on the advancement of gospel witness and the fulfillment of the Great Commission in Asia are yet to be
assessed.
