10 October 2005

Earlier this week, The Asia Evangelical Alliance “AEA” together with the Alliance Development Trust (Relief and Development Commission of the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka) sent a 20 foot container of blankets and Clothing for distribution among the survivors of the earthquake that ravaged Pakistan on the 8th of October. The massive quake killed over 54,000 people and left many thousands homeless.

The consignment contained over 1,500 blankets of excellent quality sleeping bags and assorted cloths. The fast approaching winter poses threat to these survivors who will be forced to face the bitter cold winter without proper housing, the blankets sent from Sri Lanka will help them keep warm during the cold winter months.

Mr.Godfrey Yogarajah, General Secretary of “AEA” was of the view that this donation of emergency assistance reflects that spirit of giving of the Asian christians and is an act of demonstration of God’s love and compassion to the effected people of Pakistan.
